Frequently asked questions about SafeTrip travel insurance for trips
Yes, SafeTrip does not cover trips to and from certain countries. We consider the safety of our travelers when making these decisions and the list changes based on global events.
If you need to be hospitalized while you’re traveling internationally, travel health insurance can help. Typically, standard health insurance plans do not cover medical needs when you’re in another country. A SafeTrip International Travel Medical or International Travel Medical Plus plan can fill this gap.
Both our International Travel Medical and International Travel Medical Plus plans give you access to the UnitedHealthcare Global network of providers with a choice of three plan levels for each.
International Travel Medical is built for travelers who want robust medical coverage for unexpected accidents or sickness, with medical expense limits up to $1,000,000.
International Travel Medical Plus adds trip protection benefits like trip cancellation and trip interruption coverage, along with medical expense limits up to $150,000. Choose this plan if you want broader protection for the trip itself, not just medical expenses.
Whichever plan you choose, selecting the highest level of coverage can help minimize your risk of being stuck with out-of-pocket expenses, especially in the event of a serious medical emergency. Limits and protection may differ by plan level, so please review your policy documents carefully to confirm your specific coverage.
